Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Buddhism Study Group!

Mission statement

We are a student organization consisting of students with an interest in Buddhism in all its varied forms. Our purpose is to provide opportunities to learn about and practice Buddhism for the Madison, Wisconsin, community (especially geared toward students).

We have various group activities throughout the year; please see the "Activities" page for brief decriptions of these. Everyone is welcome; just come and join us. For more information, please contact our officers listed on the "Join Us" page. We sometimes also advertise events for other local Buddhist groups, for which questions should be referred to that specific group. All the local Buddhist groups we know about are under the "Links"page.

History

本社於1983年間由當時就讀於UW-Madison的董肇祥及張鴻洋兩位學長提議， 在上恆下清法師指導下成立。初期制定之佛學研討及念佛共修定課，數年來連續不斷，為今日規模之緣起。

目前成員以UW-Madison之學生為主。承蒙許雅淙與陳金鈴居士伉儷長期發心佈施其府上佛堂，同學乃得於週日共聚一堂，禮佛念佛，栽培善根。而由在本校深造之青年法師上顯下如法師、上見下咸法師、上如下念法師、及上見下寬法師處所得之佛法佈施，或是同學之間的佛法切磋，更播ă! 55;了智慧的種子。

本社自成立以來，曾恭請上聖下嚴法師、上淨下空法師、上宣下化上人、上妙下淨長老、上淨下照法師、上繼下如法師、上明下光法師等諸為法師蒞臨開示，中外人士，同霑法喜。
